Better late than never; here are portraits I took of all speakers at Semi Permanent Sydney 2010. I have shot SP in Sydney and Melbourne for 3 years now, and every year I promise myself to blog the portraits (at least), and of course, never do. So here we go!

In case you don’t know what Semi Permanent is, it’s an annual design conference held in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Auckland. There is nothing like it in Australasia. The Design Is Kinky crew hand pick around 12 speakers for each conference, from all facets of the design field. A balance of illustrators, photographers (my personal favorite), 3D animators, ad agencies and film makers. I have been going since I was a young and enthusiastic designer myself, way back when I studied architecture. And no matter how many times I go, now as a photographer, rather than a crowd member, I always walk away inspired and ready to take it to the next level.

For these portraits, I set up a little studio in the VIP room and shoot each person after they have finished speaking. Hopefully I will one day get to uploading the past speakers as well….. there have been some remarkable personalities over the years.
